BECOME AN EARLY CHILDCARE ASSISTANT
As an Early Childcare Assistant, you help to enhance children’s self-esteem during daily activities and encourage the socialization of children as they play and experience things together. Early Childcare Assistants plan and aide with meal time, supervise children at playtime and during rest periods. Early Childcare Assistants also lead children in activities through stories and songs, preparing craft material, preparing and serving snacks, and guiding and assisting children in the development of proper hygiene habits. Early Childcare Assistants attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems with children and they help the supervisor in keeping records, maintaining day care equipment and with housekeeping duties.
BEGIN A REWARDING CAREER WORKING WITH CHILDREN
Upon graduation from the Early Childcare Assistant program, you may find employment as assistant teachers in child care centres and nursery schools, or as family-home child care providers. Job titles include: Childcare Assistant, Childcare Worker, Daycare Early Childhood Educator Assistant, Day Care Worker, Day Care Teacher, Preschool Teacher, Baby Care Worker, Infant Day Care Worker, Nursery School Helper, Preschool Helper.
